AMELIE BRIDE // PHOEBE & EAMON

High School sweethearts that have been together for thirteen years, Phoebe and Eamon were married at The Refinery, in a beautifully renovated and romantic warehouse in Newstead, Brisbane.

Their wedding journey began on Phoebe’s birthday when they went for an early morning hike at Mount Coot-Tha. At the top of the mountain, admiring and taking photographs of the panoramic views of the city, Eamon got down on one knee to propose.

GUEST TOTAL

82 (We were meant to have 106 but sadly we had to cut 24 guests two days before our wedding due to Covid restrictions).

MARRIAGE TO US MEANS

Finding your best friend and loving them unconditionally. It is about supporting each other, navigating life, and having fun along the way. It is built on the foundation of trust. We are so lucky to be each other’s best friends.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Our talented photographer was Tennille Fink. Tennille was such a calm presence on our wedding day and she captured all of the magical and special moments. Her photographs are timeless and natural. We are so grateful for Tennille.

We were also very lucky to have a very talented videographer, Luke McLeod. We weren’t sure whether or not to splurge on a videographer but we are so glad we did. He too captured so many special moments.

WEDDING LOCATION
Our ceremony and reception were held at The Refinery – a beautifully renovated warehouse in Newstead. Rach, the Events Manager is an actual angel. The ambiance, attentive staff, and delicious food are second to none.

WEDDING AESTHETIC/STYLE

We wanted our wedding to have ‘romantic dinner party’ vibes. Our venue, florals, and aerial installation helped us achieve this.

The bride found Bloom, our wonderful stockist in Brisbane, Australia, and initially had no idea what she wanted to wear on her wedding day, “Bloom had such a gorgeous and unique collection of dresses and separates! Sam went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and help me find my dream dress. It was here that I discovered Bo & Luca and the beautiful Amelie gown.”

BRIDE’S DRESS

I wore the elegant Amelie gown. I fell in love with this hand-beaded two-piece the moment I tried it on.

ADVICE TO BRIDES-TO-BE

  1. To breathe on the day and have faith in all the fabulous vendors you chose (they will rock it).
    2. Try not to worry about the future (Covid we are looking at you).
    3. Even though Instagram can be a great source of inspiration it can also be very overwhelming and can make you second guess your choices. Try a social media detox before the wedding.

MOST TREASURED MOMENT OF MY WEDDING DAY

The most treasured moment of our wedding day was the ceremony. It was so incredibly special and I just felt extremely calm, content, and grateful the whole time. A good friend of ours, Father Jack Ho performed a Catholic ceremony amongst our closest family and friends. It was just perfect.

FOOD & DRINKS

For our food, we had canapes shortly after our ceremony and then a shared feast down the center of our tables at the reception. The food was a definite highlight of everyone’s night.

FLOWERS & BOUQUETS

We hit the jackpot with the wonderful Amber from Mrs. Gibbons Flowers. Amber, David, and their team made our wedding so incredibly beautiful and special. From the beginning, Amber was extremely helpful and never made me feel silly for my very many questions. She was easy to work with and went above and beyond sourcing extra pieces for our day. Every detail planned exceeded our expectations and we were in awe of the floral arrangements created.

FAVORS

We chose personalised bottled cocktails from Three Foxes Distillery. We ordered the Espresso and Coconut Pine Pear options and they were a huge hit with our guests.

WEDDING CAKE

Megan from Hansel and Gretel Cakes created the most delicious and stunning cake I have ever laid eyes on. We chose a tiered buttercream cake with three fabulous flavours – orange and poppy seed, lemon coconut, and marble mud.

HONEYMOON

We were lucky enough to go to Hayman Island for a week after our wedding. It is one of the most beautiful places on earth. This was also really special for us as my grandparents honeymooned here in 1955, they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2020.
