Bloom – Brisbane, Australia
Australian brides, we’re delighted to welcome the newly opened Bloom as an official Bo & Luca retailer. Located in Brisbane, Bloom carries our Temple and Bo & Luca collections and focuses on offering a new form of bridal that speaks to the modern romantic bride. Straight from the corporate world of New York City, Sam moved to Brisbane to create something new and beautiful of her own. We had a chat with Sam and learned how she bravely decided to step out of her comfort zone and created such an inspiring business. See what she had to say below:

WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE NAME OF YOUR BOUTIQUE?
I chose Bloom because it’s a transition into a new phase, one that takes on a new and different form of beauty. I was drawn to it for two reasons, one is that a wedding transitions people into a new, beautiful phase of their life and the second is personal. I made a big transition in my life right before opening Bloom. I moved to Brisbane in April 2020, leaving friends, family, and my corporate job in New York City, to create something new and beautiful of my own.
OF ALL THE INDUSTRIES AND BUSINESSES, WHAT ATTRACTED YOU TO THE BRIDAL INDUSTRY?
Shopping for my wedding dress in 2016 sparked the idea of creating a different kind of bridal experience. There’s so much choice out there yet I still couldn’t find a shop with anything that made me feel like myself, just as a bride. I kept meeting pushy salespeople who tried to talk me into a look that was completely not me. So essentially I’ve created what I wish existed four years ago: a small curation of pieces that are far from traditional, in a cool and laid-back space.
Up until now, my career has been in fast fashion. I spent 10 years as a buyer in women’s fashion for American & International stores and spent the last few years running wholesale for a multi-brand fashion company in NYC. I loved my time working in fashion for big companies but was eager to use my experience to build Bloom and transition into #slowfashion. And what is slower than made-to-order bridal?! I am thrilled to work with designers like Bo & Luca that share the same ethos and commitment to doing better for our environment.
IF YOUR BEST FRIEND WAS UNABLE TO VISIT THE STORE, HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE IT TO THEM IN A FEW WORDS?
Industrial, chic, and stocked full of champagne!
WHAT’S ONE PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD LEAVE WITH BRIDES LOOKING FOR THEIR WEDDING GOWN?
Be true to you! Don’t feel like you have to wear something or do something because it’s someone else’s tradition. I think rules are made to be broken.
WHO WOULD BE YOUR DREAM BRIDE TO DRESS?
Honestly, any bride who wants something a little against the grain. But if I had to pick a celebrity, Amal Clooney. Or Bianca Jagger for her wedding to Mick. A woman who creates change knows who she is and has a killer sense of style is always on my list.

WHAT DREW YOU TO BO & LUCA?
Aesthetically, I love that Bo & Luca does bohemian in a different way, on their terms. It’s vintage-inspired & undeniably special. Each piece is made with such attention to detail and the quality is impeccable. From an environmental perspective, I admire Bo & Luca for their support of ancient hand-craftsmanship and the use of natural fibers and dyes (some of the gowns are hand-dyed using tea, how cool is that?).
WHICH NEW PIECES ARE YOU MOST EXCITED TO SEE ON YOUR RAILS?
The GABRIELLE, hands down! I’m a sucker for asymmetry & the unexpected.
