We had a two-tiered open faced cake, with a vanilla buttercream and fresh raspberry filling! The entire cake was vegan as well. For the guests, we served vegan donuts topped with a vanilla icing!
WEDDING SONGS //
Our ceremony song was Crimson and Clover by Tommy James & The Shondells, a song that for some reason just felt perfect. Our bridal party walked down the aisle to Mystery of Love by Sufjan Stevens, a song so romantic it set the mood entirely. After photos, the bridal party made a grand entrance to Got to be Real by Cheryl Lynn. Our first dance song was to River by Leon Bridges, a song that always reminds me of when Ben and I first fell in love. My father and I danced to Godspeed by Frank Ocean, which if you listen to the lyrics was perfect for a father and daughter.
“Wishing you Godspeed, glory
There will be mountains you won’t move
Still I’ll always be there for you
How I do
I let go of my claim on you, it’s a free world
You look down on where you came from sometimes But you’ll have this place to call home”
The general style of music was old school jams, lots of Stevie Wonder, The Jackson Five, TLC, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, ABBA, James Brown, Fleetwood Mac, Van Morrison, Gypsy Kings, and Bob Seger.
FOOD & BEVERAGES //
We did something a little unconventional and had food stations instead of buffet style or sit down! We served a mix of things from beef tenderloin, seafood paella, seared octopus, baked mini potatoes, salads, ceviche, cheese spreads, and fresh bread! Food is something that is very important to my family, so we made sure we had something for everyone and no one went hungry!
As for drinks we served Poplar Grove Wine, both red and White, along with their sister winery, Monster Winery, reds, whites, and rosé. We also served draft beers, ciders, Guinness, and Stellas.
