PHOTOGRAPHER
Whitt Keisel (@Photosbywhitt) was one of my good friends and as soon as I saw her work I knew I wanted her to capture my wedding one day. She has an effortless style and is an expert at candid shots. Since I’ve been in the wedding industry for over 6 years as a designer, the one thing I knew I didn’t want was posed, stiff photos – This is why Whitt was my first choice for my special day. I love all of the emotion she was able to capture for our special day. We also hired the husband and wife duo, Courtney and Zach Fonda from Fonda Foto & Film for our videography and this was one of the best decisions we made throughout the entire process. They were so sweet in capturing our special day and made an incredible video that I still watch weekly.

BRIDES DRESS
Angelica Gown // Bo & Luca.
I went to a cute little shop called “The Dress Theory” in Hillcrest, SD. I walked into the shop with an open mind. The girl I worked with told me that she and her coworkers all have their favourite gowns, the one they would pick for their special day. She told me the Angelica Gown was that dress for her, yet for some reason had been at the shop for years. It happened to be the first dress I tried on, then ultimately the last. I tried on at least 20 dresses after the Angelica, yet I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Once I put it on for that last time, we all cried, even the sweet girl helping me. The gown perfectly embodied the venue we chose, Dreamy, Botanical and Meticulously designed.
BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES
Show Me Your Mumu // Crisp. I had a small Bridal Party, only 3 on each side. I wanted my Bridesmaids to have the freedom to pick their own style and price for their dress so they didn’t feel pressured and still felt like themselves. I chose the colour “Crisp” and asked them to pick whatever style they felt the most comfortable in. They each ended up getting completely different dresses, and it came together beautifully.
ENGAGEMENT STORY
Adam proposed in the Uinta Mountains on a camping trip in Salt Lake City, UT. He woke me up at sunrise with a beautiful ring and asked me to be his wife. We spent time enjoying each others company, eating doughnuts and drinking coffee, before calling friends and family and telling them the news.
WEDDING THEME
Our Wedding aesthetic was Minimalistic, Modern and slightly Boho. The venue has gorgeous perennial flowers blooming about, a Bohemian-inspired barn and an ocean view from the vast meadow. We wanted a laid-back vibe for the entire event. We decided to skip the normal formalities of a typical wedding, like toasts, bouquet toss, father-daughter dance, and create a chill, party atmosphere with lots of drinking and dancing.
WEDDING RINGS
My ring was ordered by a jeweller on Etsy (Abhika Jewels) who hand makes custom rings in India. My ring is a 14k Rose Gold Pear shape with a Moonstone Gem and a Rose Gold Chevron V shape Wedding Band. His is a simple gold band, staying true to our minimalist roots.
FLOWERS & BOUQUETS
Although our wedding was in the Fall, I envisioned a bright and airy bouquet and not the typically dark and moody fall palette. My florist (Rachel Mann, Joy of Bloom Floral) helped pull my vision out of me and create the bouquet of my dreams. The guest tables had pops of Mustard yellow and palm leaves while the ceremony had a pink and yellow floral arrangement set on the giant macrame piece. Mine and the bridesmaids’ bouquets had dramatic pink and yellow florals and I had a custom Macrame Bouquet holder wrapped around the front of my bridal bouquet.

CAKE
We had an action-station style crepes as our dessert. Each guest could custom make their own crepe while the chef made them in real-time. There were toppings like Berries, Chocolate and Peanut Butter for guests to choose from!
WEDDING SONGS
Music has always been of the most important things for us throughout our entire relationship. Kevin Miso from Better Wedding Music sang and played acoustic guitar during our ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner, then DJ’ed at night for dancing. He sang “New Slang” by The Shins for Adams walk down the aisle, and sang “Going to California” by Led Zeppelin for my walk down. During the cocktail hour and dinner, I asked Kevin to play a range of songs. He sang and played an array of songs from “Harvest Moon” by Neil Young to rapping “Lose Yourself” by Eminem. His style is indicative of indie, Hawaiian, Jack Johnson, and it was perfect.
FOOD & BEVERAGES
We had a communal style dinner service. Big plates and bowls of our favourite dishes were brought to the middle of each guest table where they passed around and shared with each other. There was a variety of dishes from Crispy Duck with Cherry Sauce, Organic Kale, and Orange Salad and Vietnamese Pho Soup. We had Signature His and Hers cocktails available. The “Hers” cocktail was a Smoky Strawberry Jalapeno Margarita with Chile Salt on the rim and “His” was a classic Moscow Mule in a Copper Mug. There were also local Beers on tap and wines from surrounding California Wineries.
HONEYMOON
We decided on Kauai, HI for our weeklong honeymoon. We stayed in a quaint Vacation Rental by Owner Condo in a little town called Hanalei. Our Condo was looking over the ocean with views of waterfalls and Kauai’s amazing mountains. We did fun excursions like hiking, zip-lining, a boat tour of the Napali Coast and found lots of local hot spots on the tiny island. The island is very charming and romantic, we thought it was the perfect newlywed vacation destination!
GIFTS REGISTRY
For our Gift Registry, we exclusively used a website called Zola. This is also where we ordered we save the dates and invites. What we loved about this website was that when a guest purchases a gift for you, you can decide if you would like the have it shipped or converted to credit that you could use towards anything else on the entire site. We kept most of our gifts but did have some converted to credit for some little things we needed along the way. Most of our gifts are home decor and are now placed all throughout our home.

MEMORABLE MOMENT
My favourite and most memorable memory of the entire process and day of was our wedding dinner. I remember sitting at our Sweetheart table together and looking out at all of the people we love, who had flown, drove and just took the time out of their day to spend this night with us. My mom came up to me and one point and said “Take this all in, you’re always going to remember this moment” and she was right. That was the best dinner of my life and I wish I could turn back time and relive it again.
ADVICE FOR BRIDES-TO-BE
My number one advice for brides-to-be is to enjoy the process! I remember trying to go through the motions and cover all of my bases without fully taking in how exciting this time in my life was. I wish I could feel that anticipation and excitement again! From moments like a friend texting you “100 days left!” to meeting with your florist and going over design, the suspense of your perfect day approaching is the best feeling. As Gene Wilder said, “The suspense is terrible. I hope it will last.”
