KINA BRIDE // HAILEY & DAVID
David and Hailey wanted their wedding to encapsulate their zest for life, sense of adventure, their love for each other, and their incredible family and friends. At Yabbaloumba Retreat on the Sunshine Coast, they were married with a romantic and classic bohemian celebration.
They first met at a bar called Wooly Mammoth in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane. The two started chatting and two weeks later he invited her back to the same bar where he was playing a gig and asked if she’d want to go on a date. They’ve been attached at the hip ever since, “ In our four years together, we’ve travelled to different countries, adopted our rescue dog, Spencer, bought a treehouse in the Sunshine Coast and most recently – got married.”
Committing to always do our best to support and enhance one another, laugh, play and seek new adventures together.

Finding her dream dress was one of Hailey’s favourite memories from the entire wedding experience. Her mother had been visiting them in Australia at the time and they were able to go shopping together, even though COVID was beginning to become a pandemic.
“I felt so lucky that I was able to go wedding dress shopping with her at this time, especially because both her and my father couldn’t make it to our wedding in person (even after rescheduling it from our original date of Oct 31 2020)…”
The bride knew from the beginning that she wanted a Bo & Luca dress, exclaiming that she loved the whimsical, bohemian, romantic style of all the unique gowns. She booked with Your Art Bridal while they were doing a pop up shop at the Calile Hotel in Brisbane. This was their last, but not least, stop of the day, “I had been holding out, knowing that they carried so many beautiful Bo and Luca dresses. Maggie was incredibly kind and helpful even while I didn’t have much of a plan or an exact style in mind – I just wanted to try on all of the dresses! When I tried on the KINA dress, I noticed my mom’s face light up right away. A good sign….
I loved the way I looked and felt in this dress and I didn’t want to take it off! I’m so grateful for that day and so happy I could experience it with my mother beside me.”
Do your best to let go of the things you can’t control. Take care of your relationship in the process. Reflect often on why you’re doing this in the first place!
MOST TREASURED MOMENT OF MY WEDDING DAY
Aside from the actual getting married part, our favourite moment was the surprise trivia game hosted by our brother-in-law, Casey, who was our MC. All of our friends were provided Canada vs. Australia cut outs and had to guess whether certain life ‘events’ and embarassing childhood moments belonged to either Dave or myself. I don’t think I’ve laughed or cringed as hard before. We were truly surrounded by the very best people.
