With a heartwarming ceremony at their local church in Nesodden, Norway, and a rustic celebration of love at a farm nearby, Mari-Ann and Øivind were joined in matrimony.
The pair first met at a bar, when he called at Mari-Ann from across the room, “He thought I looked like a famous Nowegian actor named Pia Tjelta. He himself claimed he looked like Hollywood actor Ryan Gosling and I totally agreed!”
Fast forward to a couple of weeks after the initial Covid lock-down, the couple decided to change out of their comfortable clothes, get dressed and have a romantic meal together in their home. One special song and drop to the knee later, and Øivind had proposed to the love of his life.

MARRIAGE TO US MEANS
Commitment and partnership, loving and taking care of each other and growing old together. We already had children when we got married, and had therefore already made, what we think is, the biggest commitment prior to getting married. Not only did we get one, but two at the same time! Twins! The last three years have been quite a challenge with a constant lack of sleep and not enough time and energy to just be us as a couple. We just wanted to celebrate our love with our near and dear ones.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Anne Harkestad was our photographer and we were so happy that we chose her. We challenged her and she challenged us too. Anne did a really amazing job, and we are simply in love with all the pictures. We just can’t stop looking at them!
FINDING YOUR DREAM WEDDING GOWN
The bride wore our sophisticated MAE gown. Initially, she didn’t have any idea of what she wanted to wear on her special day, except that she didn’t want a ‘typical big princess’ dress, and wanted to be able to move around easily and dance freely. After visiting our wonderful stockist, Carefully Collected, for a second time, Mari-Ann tried on the new arrival that was the Mae;
“The feeling of the silk fabric against my skin just felt so delicate and it felt so light on my body. I then saw myself in the mirror and just couldn’t stop smiling. It was elegant, timeless and modern at the same time, the front split and the low-V front and back made it just as edgy as I wanted. This was the dress!”

SPECIAL WEDDING SONGS
Music is an important part of me, and I wanted a lot of music in our wedding. I also wanted to surprise my husband with music and use it to share my love and dedication.
Right before the ceremony started and while I stood behind the closed church doors with my father and my four children, my wonderful choir CAVA started singing a version of “Jag Kommer/I’m coming” by Veronica Maggio/Tove Lo. It was a message from me to my husband. To assure him. Later in the ceremony, they sang “Halo” by Byeoncé, which was also a surprise to my husband. At the end of the ceremony, my father sang “Can’t help falling in love” by Elvis Presley and all the guests sang along to the last two choruses. The whole church was singing, and it was just magical!
Later on, at the wedding reception, my father and my brother played and sang a Norwegian song that we had requested. Then they surprised us with a medley of some well-known Norwegian songs. It was very beautiful and special and meant a lot to us. It is one of the things that several of our guests has mentioned as memorable from our wedding day.
HONEYMOON
We’re hoping to travel in spring 2022 to San Sebastian, Spain.
