Naomi & her husband, Rowan, exchanged vows amongst the beautiful green meadows of Terara, Australia. WHILE They were FIRST drawn to the VENUE’S breathtaking riverbank and lush green gardens, THE DEAL BREAKER WAS the amazing willow tree, which SERVED AS the perfect backdrop for their ceremony.

Terara Riverside Gardens, Terara. We were drawn to this location because of the beautiful riverbank and lush green gardens, but mainly for the amazing willow tree! It was the perfect backdrop for our ceremony, and the beauty of it allowed for us to keep our decor minimal. The reception area was located just next to our ceremony site, so it was convenient for our guests and still set amongst the beautiful green meadows of Terara. I loved the fact that the reception area was a blank canvas – everything was plain and simple which allowed for us to inject a little of our own personality into it, while still keeping things natural and tied into the beautiful surrounds.
GUEST TOTAL //
Scott Surplice Photography. I had seen Scott’s work in wedding magazines and was so captivated by the way he captured moments and by how stunning and natural all of his photographs were. When we met Scott to discuss booking him, his laid back, friendly personality matched what we were looking for and throughout the entire lead up and on the day he was very professional, making us feel comfortable in front of the camera.

ENGAGEMENT STORY //
Rowan proposed to me on our Babymoon in the Blue Mountains. I was about 6 months pregnant and sitting in front of a roaring fireplace when he dropped to his knee. At first, I didn’t think he was serious because we have a very playful relationship, but then he pulled out the ring and from memory, the first thing I said was “shut up” and started crying. At that moment it felt like we were the only two people in the mountains.
WEDDING THEME //
Our Wedding theme was beautiful yet simple with lots of natural earthy tones incorporated into all aspects. We both live a very natural lifestyle so this was a perfect reflection of that for us. The overcast day made it even more romantic than what we were hoping for. The day could have not been more perfect.
WEDDING RINGS //
I wanted a super simple silver wedding band because my engagement ring is beautiful enough. Rowan’s ring was a silver matte band. They were made by a family friend.
WEDDING FAVOURS //
I gave my bridesmaids silver sterling earrings from a local boutique (don’t have the name!) and an essential oil perfume roller. The groomsmen received some silly socks to match each of their personalities, which they wore on the day (I made sure they were NOT seen!)
FLOWERS & BOUQUETS //
Both of us love greenery and have a simple style, which inspired our decor and flowers. It was a very natural, earthy vibe and with the help of our stylist Piccolo and Poppi we got exactly what we were after.
We chose a three-tiered wedding cake with dried flowers. It was a caramel mud cake with cream filling and a white exterior.
WEDDING SONGS //
We chose Angus and Julia Stone’s version of “Stay With Me”. Our DJ had met with us in advance to discuss what type of music we wanted.
FOOD & BEVERAGES //
We had a sit-down menu with a banquet. Our catering company, Duck Duck Goose Catering were great and served both the food and beverages.
We stayed in a beautiful Air BnB cottage in Kangaroo Valley (Justine’s on Jarrett’s) which was everything we were looking for and more! The landscape was beautiful, surrounded by green hills and wildlife. It was not far from our wedding venue so we went straight there after our reception.
GIFTS REGISTRY //
Rowan and I have been living together for quite a while so we decided to have a wishing well.
MEMORABLE MOMENT //
There were several moments throughout our wedding day that were memorable. To name a few: watching my son walking down the aisle toward his Dad and being in Rowan’s arms while we exchanged rings, my mother walking me down the aisle, having fun with our bridal party, and feeling so free in the field where we took some of our wedding photos.
ADVICE FOR BRIDES-TO-BE //
Make sure your day reflects your personality and who you both are. Whatever happens on the day happens, be present and soak up each stage of the day because its over in a flash! And remember to have fun!
