Savannah Bride – Robyn & Gavin
What started out as a high school friendship, ended in a forever love. Robyn and Gavin first got together on a night out twelve years ago and have since then visited Marco island in Florida every year. On Robyn’s 29th birthday the two cycled to their favourite sunrise spot on the island, along with their family and Gavin proposed on the docs at the water.
Marrying abroad, in Estrella del Mar, Marbella, Spain, these love birds chose a beautiful setting beside the sea. Their simple, elegant, and relaxed wedding was decorated with views of the ocean and a heart-warming sunset. If you’re dying to find out more details, keep reading!

MARRIAGE TO US MEANS
That we’re life partners. That we support and encourage each other with everything we do. That while we can’t rely on someone else to make us happy, we can support each other in finding our own happiness. A best friend and a romantic partner.
Pedro Bellido took our photos. We had so many gorgeous locations. Our ceremony was in the church in Marbella old town so we had pictures taken in the streets of the town before heading to the reception venue. We are so happy with them. I think I’ve looked through them about 30 times with a smile on my face.
ADVICE FOR BRIDES-TO-BE
Worrying about the small stuff really isn’t worth it. Soak up every second because it goes by so fast, and you’ll want to relive it over and over.
The bride travelled to the lovely Australian stockist, Ivy and White, set on a specific look and design she had originally wanted. After trying this look on, she didn’t feel that it was ‘the one’ and the ladies at Ivy and White suggested the Savannah gown by Bo & Luca,
“When I tried it on, I loved it. It was so different from traditional dress styles. I have to thank the amazing girls in Ivy and White for showing this gown to me, it was perfect.”

WEDDING DAY SCENT
WEDDING DAY ACCESSORIES
I wore my Granny’s engagement ring (as my something old and borrowed), She passed earlier this year and would have loved to be there with us. I wore a handmade Nina Ivory Veil and Swarovski drop earrings. I kept it really simple. I wore my hair up for the ceremony and took it down for the reception.
My bridesmaids wore blush dresses from JJ’s house, We picked a colour and they chose their style. It worked really well. One of my best friends Sam was also my Bridesman. He wore a Remus Uomo suit.
Gavin wore his Grandads gold wedding band and my ring is a simple but elegant diamond band by Fields.
HAIR & MAKEUP
Liza Mayne Hair and Make-up. She was amazing. We did an up-style for the church ceremony with my veil and took it down for the reception.
MOST TREASURED MOMENT OF MY WEDDING DAY
There are so many but my Dad’s speech and dancing with all of our family and friends after two years of the pandemic. It was amazing. I also loved when Gavin and I got our pictures taken in the old town just the two of us. It was nice to have some time together.
FLOWERS & BOUQUETS
We went for bouquets with eucalyptus, with white and blush pink roses. They were stunning. The groomsmen also had buttonholes.
We went with a chocolate and vanilla sponge made by the chefs in the venue. There was so much excitement going on that I’ll be honest and say that I don’t really remember what it tasted like. I’m told it was delicious.
FOOD & DRINKS
We went for a banquet style with different types of food such as BBQ’d fish and meat, beautiful Italian pasta dishes and salads, a wok station, and a dessert station. The food was sensational. There were also canapés with the welcome drinks for guests. We chose this over a set menu for our guests and it worked really well. There was something for everyone and every guest said how incredible the food was. The chefs in Estrella del Mar are known for their food. It didn’t disappoint.
SPECIAL WEDDING SONG
Our first dance song was Godspeed by James Blake. We walked into the reception to ‘This Will be’ by Natalie Cole and I walked down the aisle to Stand by Me. Our band was sensational. They were called Who Killed the DJ. We never left the dancefloor. I think the fact that nobody had danced in 2 years with Covid kept the dancefloor alive. It was so special.
CEREMONY & RECEPTION DÉCOR
The ceremony took place in La Encarnacion Church in Marbella Oldtown. I think this is one of the most beautiful churches I’ve ever been to. We kept it simple with flowers.
We then had beautiful flower centerpieces with eucalyptus, candles, and gorgeous placemats with gold details on the tables. Our table names were song names that were special to each table of guests. We also had extra fairy lights around the venue that came on when the sunset. I remember pausing to take it all in at one point. The sunset had the sky almost purple in colour, the candles, and the fairy lights surrounded our friends and family at their tables. It was really special.
For our honeymoon, we spent a week afterward in a Cortijo in Spain and will hopefully travel to Greece in June/July next year.
SOURCES OF INSPIRATION
Pinterest. I spent weeks getting images together and getting a feel for what we wanted with our décor. We kept it fresh and simple. One of my best friends and Bridesman, Sam is a brilliant event co-ordinator (Hopkins events) and he helped me with the detail. He also planned my hen party and it was incredible.
